Giving, Grantmaking, and Galas

More information is coming soon, but KCF regretfully will cancel The Auroras gala event.

It is no secret that Ketchikan is a generous community. When the need arises, we RISE to the occasion — often raising ample funds to support the needs of our friends, neighbors, and nonprofits. The local support for the Ketchikan Community Foundation (KCF) has been no different. The KCF began its growth process in 2013 and began grantmaking in 2016. Since those humble beginnings, the endowment fund has blossomed to a respectable $557,000, the KCF has granted over $81,000 to local nonprofits, and provided over $10,000 for local nonprofit trainings — bringing the total distributed funds to over $91,000 in 4 years. 2020 will be the 5th grant year.

KCF grantmaking is made possible by the ever-growing, permanent endowment fund whose sole-purpose is to strengthen nonprofits serving Ketchikan by providing grants from the earnings of the principle balance. This endowment fund is supported by the generosity of individuals, businesses, and from our larger, Alaskan community — including the generous match and seed funds from the Rasmuson Foundation. Thank you all, for being a part of that growth, for your support of our mission, and your belief in Ketchikan nonprofits.

In celebration of the 5th year of grantmaking, and in an effort to raise an additional $50,000 for the endowment fund, we will be hosting the first Ketchikan Community Foundation Gala on May 9th, 2020. This will be a premier philanthropic event – a glamorous red-carpet gala that will help us announce and spotlight the 2020 grant winners, act as a major fundraising event for the Foundation, and provide recognition for many of our major donors.

Ways to GIVE through the GALA:

Purchase a Ticket

  • Ticket prices include a one-time donation of $100 in addition to the $50 meal ticket. Guests will be served a delightful meal with access to a no host bar, as they help grow the endowment fund through their philanthropic efforts.
  • A table purchase of $1,000 will give 8 people the opportunity to help grow the endowment fund while they enjoy an evening out together. This group option is ideal for friends, businesses who want to send employees, and families.

Businesses Sponsorship

  • A one-time sponsorship of $5,000 by April 15, 2020 gives you the privilege of including your name or company logo on the red carpet banner displayed at the event. The flashbulbs will be popping, and the images of attendees posing with the banner will be shared on social media and beyond – great exposure! (Note, this is not a charitable contribution).
